The mission of NYC Department of Transportation (DOT) is to provide for the safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible movement of people and goods in the City of New York. However if a pedestrian wants to make the most of the city’s public transit system they need to be able to compare the benefits of multiple modes of transportation quickly. To this end DOT developed iRideNYC.info, a web map to link New Yorkers and visitors with the latest transit availability information (CitiBike availability, train/bus arrival times). From a smartphone, tablet, or desktop, users can determine what modes of transit are closest to them and weigh their options based on the latest transit data.
